Runaway Purple leashed Dog

At one point, I thought I would never post on my blog again.
I did the unthinkable...I ran away.

It wasn't planned. It was a rash decision and I'm sorry that it ever happened.

I told Xia and Augie that I ran the streets and sniffed through the trash in the city but I really hid under a car in a parking garage shaken and scared.

A fun filled day turned into a cold terrible nightmare at the flip of a stick. I was at the Riverside Arts Market with my people...a regular Saturday morning except a little colder than usual. I was snuggled up in my blanket taking a nap when all of a sudden a loud crash awakened me and scared the beegeezies out of me. Apparently, a kid had knocked over a table and it crashed to the ground but I didn't know that at the time...I thought the sky was falling, so I ran. And as I ran past people they would stomp at me which scared me even more so I ran faster. It wasn't until later, after I was lost, when I realized they were probably trying to step on my leash that was dragging behind me to stop me from running and not trying to step on my tail after all.

I wish I woulda thought about that before I got too far and lost my way. I'm so ashamed. I was just adopted in August, not more than 3 months ago, and I've already ran away. Laying there, on the cold parking lot ground underneath a car, I thought about the nice home I was adopted into. I thought about Xia and Augie and what they were going to think when I didn't come back home. How much fun we had playing, going on neighborhood walks, to the local dog park, strolls on the beach, and good home cooked meals. And all the love that the people who adopted me gave me. I know they cried, and I wasn't there to comfort them like a good dog does.

I know I would have froze to death that night if it weren't for the nice lady who saw my purple leash sticking out from the car I was hiding under. I'm not a really good hider or maybe that purple leash was a blessing.

Once I was found I then learned just how many people were looking for me...just about everyone knew about the runaway dog with the purple leash. The nice lady handed me over to a man who had worked the Riverside Arts Market earlier and had heard about the purple leash runaway dog. The man called the lady who knew my people and she came to pick me up and took me to her house while she tried to call my people to tell them I was found. But my people didn't answer the phone, I guessed they were probably driving around still looking for me. It was supposed to reach the freezing point that night. I was exhausted and fell asleep right away. The next morning I woke to a phone ringing and overheard the lady talking about me. She was talking to my people...I was really going to see Xia and Augie again...I was going home.

Thank you God for staying with me and taking care of me. Thank you nice lady for finding me and searching out people who knew me. Thank you to the man who took me and called the lady who knew my people, and thank you to the lady who took me home and let me sleep in a nice warm bed until my people came to get me. And thank you to my people who adopted me and told me they would never give up on me no matter what. I am a permanet member of the family...I'm forever the 3rd Goober.

  8. Containing a dog to your yard is a challenge. I would recommend an electric fence if you don't want to worry about her escaping anymore. She won't be able to dig underneath it, or find any holes to get through. I found this one recently: http://www.havahartwireless.com/shop/wireless-dog-fence/custom-shape-pet-fence

Leave a woof or a meow, whichever wags your tail :)
